The development of mathematical understanding forms the basis of our Numeracy curriculum in Ballysally Primary School. Children engage in a wide variety of practical activities and games which are designed to promote effective learning and enjoyment in aspects such as Measures, Shape and Space, Data Handling and Number. This year we are placing a major emphasis on the development of mental maths and problem solving skills in all classes.
Primary 3-Primary 7 are currently using an ALTA Maths on line programme which enables children to consolidate the work covered in class . We hope to invite parents in to our computer suite to watch the children using this programme. It is envisaged that the children will have access to ALTA at home.
